The secret to being a great parent is remembering what it's like to be a child – and the family that plays together, stays together.

Eye Shine runs magical residential retreats for parents and children aged five to eleven. The kids have their own workshop with fantastic facilitators in drama, dance, nature art and music, while the adults explore their own creativity and playfulness without distraction. We end up playing together all weekend in a safe, beautiful, inspiring environment where the parents can relax and let the kids lead the master class.

Your children would love to play with you. And maybe you already do play together - when you can. But it's probably only here and there, when you find the time, the space, the energy after a long day, when work and weather allow. So if you're someone who already knows exactly HOW to play with your kids but maybe you don't have much TIME to do so...

Just imagine having two whole days and nights together, inhabiting a wonderland of forests, moorland, rivers and your very own cosy bunk bed to curl up in at night after a hot chocolate and a bed-time story – no matter what age you are.

How to really play, with mud on your knees, the wind in your hair, cheeks
flushed, eyes sparkling, laughing, energised, excited and utterly, totally free? Or silent and alone in nature, exploring a magical imaginary land that your mind creates with ease?

We spend a whole weekend focussing on playfulness, creativity, nature and having fun, connecting with the bits of us that remember what it's like to experience the world as a magical place.

You'll all be spending your days exploring the wilderness, playing games, climbing trees, telling stories, painting, writing and singing, eating delicious feasts and lying in a hot tub under the stars. You'll be serenaded by firelight before being tucked up with a hot chocolate and eventually fall asleep to the sound of the wind in the trees, knowing that the next day you'll do it all again.

And that's just for the parents!

Your children already know how to play with ease.
